21 October 2012 - (Red Velvet) I was bummed about missing out on the googly-eyed cupcakes at Oak Mill Bakery but D.E. bought me one from Whole Foods! Really rich cake; the "red velvet-ness" is actually detectable in this cake. Nice thick cream cheese icing.

13 May 2012 - I'm not too proud that I purchased from Wal-Mart, but for 88 cents and an Angry Birds ring I thought I'd give it a shot. I was shocked that this cupcake, stored in the fridge for a day, was actually delicious. It was rich vanilla cake and light, smooth icing. (vanilla/vanilla)

6 September 2012 - Pistachio cake is one of my favorites and I'm determined to find the best one out there. This particular cupcake, I admit, let me down a little and I'm not entirely sure why. The cake was moist and fresh, like Goddess and Grocer cupcakes have been in the past, and had pistachio chunks throughout. The chocolate filling was...strangely unexpected. Like with the Julep above, they're very generous with the filling, but it didn't really "click" with the rest of the cake. The icing was the same way. I think perhaps there were too many flavors competing for attention.

16 June 2012 - The "mini's" aren't really mini at all (well, compared to their large regular cupcakes they are!). According to my scale, the minis are actually average cupcake size and come in a convenient pack of two which is nice if you want two different cake flavors. Both moist and flavorful, just as expected.
Vanilla Goddess (L) and Mint Julep Gourmet Goddess (R) |
21 May 2012 - The Mint Julep cake...where to start! Strong mint flavor in the icing but definitely not overpowering; nice compliment with the bourbon fudge filling. Definite bourbon taste in cake (it's soaked in it, but it's not soggy) and in the filling. Moist cake (again, not soggy) and the mint leaf on top was a cute detail. The vanilla cake was the classic taste of "birthday cake." Moist, buttery.
